Experience Simcoe County

Simcoe County is a four-season destination lying between Georgian Bay and Lake Simcoe and is less than one hour north of Toronto. It boasts the longest fresh water beach in the world and has some of the best fishing, boating and skiing in all of Ontario. The Trent Severn Waterway traverses the County going through Lake Simcoe, Lake Couchiching and the Severn River where it spills into Georgian Bay, providing a boater’s haven.

Our spectacular natural environment and county-wide trails network take you past many heritage sites, attractions and stunning views over Georgian Bay. The seven Provincial Parks in the area vary from day use only to full service campgrounds found on the lakes and rivers of the area. We even have a National Park that offers all-season camping.

Simcoe County is the site of the earliest non-First Nations exploration and settlement in Ontario and for this reason it is rich with historic attractions depicting the long history of this region.  You will discover how our heritage has affected our present day culture.

So whether you come for a day or a week, whether it is for a ride on a steam train, tree trekking high above a forest floor or experiencing the adrenalin rush of zip lining, you will have lots to choose from when you get away to it all in Simcoe County!

Be sure to stop in to our office located at 1151 Highway 26 West Midhurst in the Simcoe County Museum.
